Figure skating equipment is a large investment. Here is PBHE's guide to properly maintaining your boots to help extend boot life!

Boot Maintenance

Boot Dryers

Skaters should dry their boots regularly to maximize the life of the boot and to control bacteria. This is especially important if you skate without socks. Insoles can be cleaned with a mild solution of vinegar and water. Do not over dry your boots this can damage the inner lining. PBHE sells boot dryers that are on a timer and that have a UV light to reduce bacteria. Your boots will last much longer if care is taken to dry and seal them on a regular basis.

Laces

PBHE has been looking for good quality skate laces for years that are cut resistant, have limited stretch, curl and hold a knot well with solid end tips. In the end we finally decided to have special laces manufactured to our specifications and material. The are now known as, "PBHE Super Laces"! Proper lace length is also an essential requirement therefore we have 84”, 96”, 108”, 118”, 132” in both white and black in stock at all times.

Boot Taping

Many of our skaters severely cut the toe of their landing foot partly due to the sharpness of the blades. PBHE has researched this problem and has found a white tape that does not fade and is very cut resistant, we import the tape from the US. A roll will last for at least two years, some skaters remove the tape for competitions. There is a special way to tape that allows the boot to flex properly.
